NBA Free Agency Rumors: Philadelphia 76ers’ ‘Shocking’ Scenario Involving Veteran, Exposed
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Tobias Harris was one of the most disappointing players for the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2024 NBA Playoffs. Harris had a chance to bolster his stock in the coming 2024 NBA free agency, considering that he is a pending unrestricted free agent. But instead of stepping up and delivering the goods for the Sixers, Harris put up a disappearing act.

The question for Harris now is whether the Sixers should still want him back after he averaged just 9.0 points on 43.1 percent shooting from the floor and 33.3 percent from behind the arc in six games against the New York Knicks in the first round of the postseason.

Tobias Harris’ Future With the Philadelphia 76ers

When asked by a reader about Harris’ chances of staying in the City of Brotherly Love via a new contract, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer said that such a scenario would surprise him.

Q: What is the possibility that Philadelphia brings Tobias Harris back to the team on a team-friendly deal because of his versatility on defense alone? —@TheReal_MD28

A: Great question, man. I’ll never say never, but it would be shocking to see Harris return. As one of the top free agents, he’ll have plenty of suitors willing to pay him more than what the Sixers intend to offer him. With that said, I strongly believe Harris’ tenure in Philly is over.

But even if Harris and the Sixers split ways in free agency, teams can be expected to line up to win the signature of the veteran forward, who can still provide shooting, size, and rebounding for whichever team he lands with.
