With the season coming to an end, all eyes will now be on the upcoming transfer window with Tottenham set to be one of the busiest in the market.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has recently emphasised the necessity for substantial squad changes to compete at the highest level next season.

A number of players are expected to be sold in the upcoming window and there will be quite a few incomings as well.

It was reported yesterday that the manager has requested at least three new signings to strengthen the squad, with a striker and a central midfielder on top of the lists.

Several names have been linked, among which Ivan Toney is considered as one of the top targets. Santiago Gimenez is another player who has been linked with a move since last summer.

Tottenham insider Dean Jones has not only suggested that Tottenham will be sold, but also emphasises on the replacement. He claims that Spurs need to get a proper goalscorer and will not be surprised if they go for Brentford striker Ivan Toney. But he also named the prolific Mexican striker Santiago Gimenez as another realistic option they could move for.

Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, he said:

“The big one will be the Richarlison replacement, they need to get a proper goalscorer here. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them go for Ivan Toney, but Santiago Gimenez is another realistic option here.”

The Feyenoord striker has featured in a total of 41 matches and has found the back of the net on 26 occasions, and also has eight assists to his name.

He joined the club 2 years ago and has since then made 86 appearances across all competitions, scoring 49 and assisting another 11.

The 23-year-old was even spotted at Tottenham last month, as watched the match against Arsenal along with agent.

Meanwhile, Ivan Toney is another target and will be among the most sought-after strikers this summer.

Last season, he scored an impressive 20 goals in 33 league appearances, placing him third in the top scorers list, behind only Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.

Despite missing half of this season due to a betting-related ban, Toney has still managed to make an impact, scoring four goals and providing two assists in 17 matches. Since joining Brentford, he has been a standout performer, amassing 72 goals and 23 assists in 141 appearances for the club.
